Dr. Ana Mafé García participates in the first “In Varietate Concordia Talk” promoted by Europa Nostra
The president of the International Association Cultural Itinerary The Way of the Holy Grail of Europe followed the event live from Spain through the online platform
Valencia, February 25, 2026 — Dr. Ana Mafé García, president of the International Association Cultural Itinerary The Way of the Holy Grail of Europe, was virtually present at the first meeting of the “In Varietate Concordia Talk” cycle, held on February 23 at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon.
The event, broadcast live on an online platform, brought together leading figures of Iberian and European culture to reflect on the role of musical heritage as an element of cohesion and peace in Europe. Under the title “Europe, variations on a theme“, the meeting was attended by the conductor and composer Jordi Savall, the baritone and founder of the Centre Européen de Musique Jorge Chaminé, the pianist Maria João Pires and the fado singer Kátia Guerreiro, and was moderated by Sneška Quaedvlieg-Mihailović, Secretary General of Europa Nostra and leader of the European Heritage Hub.
The dialogue, held forty years after the accession of Portugal and Spain to the European Union and in an international context marked by profound democratic challenges, addressed how the common cultural legacy can strengthen unity and peace in Europe.
Commitment to European unity from cultural heritage
Dr. Mafé García highlighted the importance of this type of forum to strengthen the cultural dimension of Europe and underlined the connection between initiatives such as “In Varietate Concordia” and the work developed from the Cultural Itinerary The Way of the Holy Grail.
“Europe needs to rediscover its cultural and spiritual roots. Diversity is our wealth, but harmony is our horizon,” he said after the meeting.
The event is part of the In Varietate Concordia initiative, promoted by the European Heritage Hub funded by the European Union and coordinated by Europa Nostra and the National Center for Culture, with the support of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
Inspired by the European motto “United in diversity”, this initiative promotes public conversations, podcast production and opinion pieces with the aim of stimulating critical thinking and encouraging the active defence of European fundamental values: democracy, justice, equality, solidarity and sustainability.
The Way of the Holy Grail and European Cultural Diplomacy
The participation of Dr. Ana Mafé García in this European forum reinforces the international projection of the Cultural Itinerary The Way of the Holy Grail as a project of cultural diplomacy, intercultural dialogue and promotion of peace, aligned with the principles of the Council of Europe and the construction of a European citizenship based on shared heritage.
The International Association especially values the musical and artistic dimension of the meeting, understanding that cultural heritage – tangible and intangible – constitutes an essential tool for social cohesion and transnational cooperation.
